To achieve great growth in the last years, Hung Vuong Corporation has paid special attention to establishing material sources. Hung Vuong has set up a network of breeding regions, in Ben Tre, Vinh Long and Can Tho provinces where clean water sources can be found to reduce the risk of water-born diseases, a serious threat to the fish in grow-out farms. Compared to floating cage and fenced-off areas farming, pond farming is now considered the most effective way due to the controlled feed loss, higher growth rate and easier health care for the fish.
At the company’s farms only feed pellets, manufactured by Cargill, Pro Con Co are used. This helps the fish resist against diseases, grow faster and give higher yield. Fish from the company’s farms give firm texture fillets, higher processing ratio which in turn reduce production cost and raise the competitiveness for the company’s export products.
Our company also cooperates with 30 breeders, in the form of guaranteeing product outlets, to obtain over 45,000 tones of pangasius annually. Presently rearing process for high quality pangasius is in good applications on farms and farming households. Our fish are products of a clean rearing processes, which are qualified for processing for export and free of germs and prohibited chemicals and antibiotics. To meet strict standards of export markets, the farms must meet certain requirements of rearing area of environmentally friendliness.” Especially they must be certified to have completed training courses in safe and quality fish breeding skills in line with the world’s standards in food hygiene and safety.
With the success of our farming program, we intend to have farming area expanded to 120 hectares in 2008.
